Transaction between Literature and Cinema: Two Sides of the Same Coin

  • This research paper explores the relationship between literature and cinema. It discusses the coordination between both the subjects in spite of having so many dissimilarities at the introductory section which has been followed by five objectives. Then, it proceeds towards the section of inter-disciplinary & multi-disciplinary relevance & scope again followed by methodology. In the analysis part, the definition and genres of literature have opened the discussion followed by elements of motion picture. Detail analysis has been done regarding film adaption of literature in various categories. It encircles types of literary adaptations like fictional adaptation and non-fictional adaptation followed by advantages of literary adaptation. Next, some milestone filmic adaptation works are explored like western cine adaptations, mythological epic movie trans-creation, Shakespeare’s works on screen, filmic recreation of some Indian and South Asian literary texts, cinematic transformation of some noted Assamese books etc. Finally, novelization and cinematic literature conclude the paper which is followed by the reference section.
