GIS based hypsometric analysis of CartoDEM of Assam, NE India

  • ABSTRACT

  • CartoDEM of 30m resolution provides digital elevation model of different territories of Indian subcontinent. DEM of the state of Assam has been processed in QGIS using raster tools to obtain hypsometric metadata and is plotted to obtain the hypsometric curve. Using this result, areas of the state of Assam, NE India has been categorised into four distinct physiographic sub-units. More than 56.63% of total area of Assam is under 103m elevation and 10% area above 400m elevation and rest 33.37% area possess elevation between that above the mean-sea-level. Out the 56.63% which is under 103m, 60% is under 70m elevation.
